✍️ A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

“A banana leaf will outlast our microplastic age.”

EcoRyn was not born in a lab. It was born in a tea stall — watching an old man pour the same chai into a plastic-lined cup my grandfather would have served on a leaf, and wondering when, exactly, we stopped trusting the earth to feed us.

Dear friend,

I grew up in a village in Tamil Nadu where every meal arrived on a banana leaf and every cup of chai came in terracotta. Nothing was thrown away — the leaf went back to the goat, the terracotta back to the soil. We did not have the word sustainability. We just lived it.

Three decades later, I stood in a research lab and watched a microscope reveal what a polyethylene-lined paper cup actually does when you pour hot tea into it: in fifteen minutes, twenty-five thousand microplastic particles drift into the cup. From there, into your blood. From your blood, into your child's blood.

That is the moment EcoRyn was born — not as a business plan, but as a conscience.

Our country produces over 1 million tonnes of banana stem and leaf waste every year. Farmers burn most of it because it has no market. Meanwhile, our cafés import polyethylene from a refinery half a continent away to line cups that will outlive the children drinking from them. The math is absurd. So is the morality.

Sip Sustain — our proprietary heat-and-press technology — was designed to close that loop. We take what the banana plant has already perfected over millions of years (a leaf that holds liquid, resists heat, and biodegrades in weeks) and shape it into a cup at the same price as the plastic-laced one. No coating. No chemistry. No compromise.

What you hold in your hand when you drink from an EcoRyn cup is not a product. It is a quiet refusal — a refusal to let convenience cost us our blood, our soil, our grandchildren. It is also a return to something older than the plastic age: the belief that the earth knows how to package its own gifts.

If you are a customer, thank you for choosing a cup that loves you back. If you are a café, a brand, an investor — come stand with us. We have a long way to go and very little time.

The banana leaf has been waiting for centuries. We were the ones who looked away.

With gratitude and resolve,

Dr. G. Senthil Kumar
